Hyogo Prefecture, Japan: A 25 year-old male office worker was arrested on 1/9 for squirting mayonnaise on middle school girls at a train station escalator. The suspect has  admitted to his crime, confessing “I definitely did it.”

According to the arrest records, the suspect was standing by an escalator at a train station on 10/31/2013. When a 15 year-old female private middle school student approached the escalator, the man squirted mayonnaise on her back.

The police noted that the student heard a strange “pop” near the escalator. When she turned to see what it was, the man was standing behind her. She noticed what had happened when she checked herself at the station’s restrooms.

Saga Prefecture, Japan: On 1/7, an unemployed 67 year-old man was arrested for attempting to steal women’s underwear from a private home, charged with attempted larceny. After six and a half hours in court, the district had no choice but to release him as the case lacked evidence.

According to the police, around 4:30 PM on 1/6, a man was caught reaching his hand into a home’s balcony on the first floor, where some women’s underwear was being hung out to dry. When a passing neighbor saw and approached him, the man fled the scene. The police arrived shortly after receiving a call about the man, who was caught returning to his car which was parked in the neighborhood.

The man confessed “I definitely had it in my hands, but I just wanted to smell it, not steal it,” denying the charges for attempted theft. The police urged the court to attest the man, but they could not prove the man’s true intent. The police were quoted saying, “we’ll gather better evidence and research laws more precisely to improve our efficiency.”

A 40 year-old Osaka woman was arrested on 12/22 for throwing a knife and killing her husband.

She denies any intent or premeditation, claiming “I did throw the knife but I didn’t mean to kill him, I just wanted to frighten him.”

According to the announcement, the perpetrator was working on 12/22 1:10 PM at her part-time job at a izakaya (a type of pub with tapas-style foods). Her husband (45) came in with his male friend, but she got in a verbal argument with her husband. When he left the establishment she chased after him, and she threw a knife at him that she grabbed from the kitchen. The knife struck the middle of his left shoulder, and was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead 30 minutes after arrival.

Taxi Driver Vows to Protect a Previously Targeted Convenience Store with His Katana, Gets Arrested

Kyoto, Japan: On 12/28 a 65 year-old taxi driver showed up to a convenience store that had been robbed a few days prior with an imitation katana sword, claiming that he’d be the store’s bodyguard. He was arrested for violating the Swords and Firearms Control Law.

According to police investigation, the man arrived at the Mukōkamiueno Family Mart convenience store at 5:50 AM, and stood at the entrance carrying an imitation katana sword (blade length 75 cm/29.5 in). The man was slightly intoxicated, and told the convenience store clerk “I am Japan’s best. I’ll protect this store from robbers.” The clerk called the police.

The same store suffered a robbery early morning on 12/23, with two men demanding money carrying knives, and fled the scene after taking 50,000 yen (~$475).

A man living in Osaka, Japan was stabbed several times and suffered serious injury, and police have now in custody a 25 year-old unemployed male as a suspect. Approximately 15 minutes after the stabbing, a Twitter user with the same name as the suspect tweeted, “A guy honked his car horn and started to threaten me, so I stabbed him a few times with a knife,” which lead to his arrest.

During the investigation, the suspect confessed that “he honked his car horn at me and started to say intimidating things to me, so I decided to seriously fight and then stabbed him.” Eyewitness accounts have matched the suspect’s statements.
